With her scheduled trial just one day away, on Monday Kentia Fearn, 24, pleaded no contest to charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, a felony, and operating while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. The incident happened on June 3, 2023 outside the Coach House Apartments near Greenfield Road and Mt. Vernon Street in Southfield.

A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing purposes. It can also offer some liability protection in civil cases.

Fearn, of Wayne, is out of jail on a $3,000 personal bond, which requires no cash or surety to be posted. She faces up to five years in prison.. Sentencing by Judge David Cohen is scheduled for Dec. 13.
