The City of Troy has a new chief of police, Josh Jones — a 25-year veteran of the department.

Jones began his career with the Troy Police Department in 2000 as a patrol officer, advancing  to sergeant in 2012 and also serving as special investigations detective. Last September, he was appointed acting chief of police when Police Chief Frank Nastasi was appointed city manager on a temporary basis; Nastasi has since been selected as Troy’s city manager.

“I am truly honored and excited to serve the Troy Police Department and this community as police chief,” Jones stated in a news release, “In my 25 years with the department I have had the opportunity to work alongside some great people.  I step into this role with a supportive city council, a strong city staff and a police department fulll of dedicated men and women. We are in a good place, and ready to continue serving our residents by providing high level and professional law enforcement service to ensure a safe community for all.”

Jones is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, and holds a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice from Western Michigan University.
