A 25-year-old Manistee man has been charged with three felonies for allegedly abusing his 3-month-old puppy in the parking lot of a Macomb County fast food restaurant on Monday.
Corbin Gregory Miller was arraigned in 41B District Court Feb. 5 and charged with one felony count of third-degree animal torture and two felony counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer. Judge James Verploeg set the cash/surety bond at $100,000. Miller currently remains in custody at the Macomb County Jail. If he posts bond, Miller must not have any contact with animals, cannot be in possession of drugs, alcohol or firearms, and must wear a GPS tether.

It is alleged on Feb. 3 at approximately 11:27 a.m., Macomb County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a fast-food restaurant on Hall Road for a dog being abused inside of a camper fan.
A witness told officers he observed Miller striking a puppy numerous times with a “cylindrical item.”
Deputies arrived to find Macomb County Animal Control already on scene.
Miller refused to comply with a deputy’s requests to roll down his window, exit the vehicle, or let Animal Control tend to the puppy.
Deputies eventually gained entry to the camper van where they observed “Maeby,” a female, 3- month-old, German pointer mix, with visible injuries to her leg and yelping when picked up. Miller remained uncooperative and was taken into custody.
Macomb County Animal Control Chief Jeff Randazzo said Maeby suffered a skull fracture, pelvic girdle fracture, and a femur fracture. As of Thursday morning, was reportedly stable and is in good spirits. She had surgery Thursday morning to repair and support her fractured femur and pelvic girdle and is recovering.
A probable cause conference is set for Miller on Feb. 18 at 9 a.m. and a preliminary exam is set for Feb. 25 at 9 a.m. in front of Judge Stephen Sierawski.
