While an investigation continues into the death of a Waterford Township man at a car wash in Pontiac more than a week ago, officials said there’s no indication of foul play.

Lt. Sam Marzban of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office told The Oakland Press that the man was identified as 48-year-old Harold Roberts. He died at the business located at Cass Avenue and Johnson Street on Feb. 1 after collapsing there, based on video surveillance footage and witness statements, Marzban said.

Marzban dispelled rumors that Roberts had been killed elsewhere and his body left at the car wash.

An autopsy was performed and no signs of foul play turned up, Marzban said, adding that toxicology reports are pending.

Deputies and a crew from the Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to the business just past 4 p.m. that day. Personnel from the county’s crime unit was also called in “to process the scene” and speak with witnesses — which is customary in situations like this one, Marzban said.
