A nurse from Warren is facing felony charges in connection with a 2023 incident involving the care and subsequent death of a disabled resident at a Madison Heights nursing home.

Antonio Serraon, 55, was arraigned Wednesday in 43rd District Court on one count of placing misleading or inaccurate information in medical records or charts, and one count of unauthorized practice of a health profession.

The Attorney General’s Office said the charges stem from a Dec. 13, 2023 incident at Mission Point Nursing & Physical Rehabilitation Center of Madison Heights, where Serraon was employed as a nurse. A disabled resident allegedly fell and struck his head on the floor, and Serraon is accused of falsely documenting follow-up care that wasn’t provided. The resident subsequently died from injuries he sustained in the fall.

The Oakland Press left messages with the AG’s office and Mission Point’s human resources department about whether or not Serraon is still employed at Mission Point but hasn’t heard back yet.

The incident was initially investigated by the Madison Heights Police Department, the AG’s office said, and is now in the hands of the AG’s Health Care Fraud Division.

Serraon’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 19 for a probable cause conference. A preliminary exam is scheduled for two weeks later for a judge to hear evidence and determine if the case will proceed to Oakland County Circuit Court for possible trial.
