A woman from Lake Orion was killed when the motorcycle she was operating collided with a minivan in Orion Township on Wednesday night, officials said.
The victim has been identified as Jennifer Marie Billington, 48.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at approximately 8 p.m. on Lapeer Road and Morgan Hill Drive. Billington was travelling northbound on Lapeer Road on a 2012 Harley Davidson FLHX motorcycle when a 42-year-old Royal Oak man driving a 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan failed to yield while entering the roadway from Morgan Hill Drive. The motorcycle collided with the driver’s side of the van, the sheriff’s office said.
Billington was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the sheriff’s office said.
Sheriff’s deputies called to the scene performed lifesaving measures on Billington until EMS arrived and transported her to McLaren Oakland Hospital where she died from her injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver of the minivan wasn’t injured. Alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
