A man accused in the shooting that caused Oakland County businesses and schools to temporarily lock down was arraigned Sunday.
Robert Paljusevic, who was working at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital when he allegedly fired seven shots at a coworker in a parking structure, was denied bond while being held at Oakland County Jail. He was charged with assault with intent to murder, felony firearm and and carrying a concealed weapon in a virtual hearing at 52-1 District Court Sunday morning.
The 21-year-old’s next hearing is on March 31 at 9 a.m. at 52-4 District Court in Troy.
Paljusevic allegedly shot a 25-year-old man Thursday morning around 7 a.m. in the parking structure of the Troy hospital on Dequindre Road near M-59. The victim sustained gun shot wounds in his arm and shoulder near a black Ford Escape with multiple bullet holes in the windshield.
Police located Paljusevic using camera footage in Macomb County that located him at Ryan and Utica Roads around 7:30 a.m. Thursday. Officers from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office found Paljuseciv at a residence in the county and he was arrested.
The firearm used and Paljusevic’s cellphone have not been yet recovered by police.

“The defendant had the forethought to dispose of the phone and weapon used in this incident in attempt to evade arrest and hinder the investigation. Subsequent interviews with family, close close friends indicate an unwillingness to fully cooperate with law enforcement. We feel this is indicative of a lack of future cooperation or accountability in the event the suspect was to be released on bond,” a detective told the magistrate Sunday morning.
Detective Carlo Pizzorni of the of Troy Police Department said that Paljusevic and the victim were friends based off interviews conducted with their families.
“They were aware that there had been a falling out between the two… the victim had attended a birthday party in January, so they believed that it had been set aside. The defendant’s sister described the defendant as having a short fuse and stated that he would often argue with people. They all stated that the defendant worked the night shift at the hospital and they believed that he had worked the night before the incident,” Pizzorni said Sunday.
The victim, who was treated in the hospital’s emergency room and is in stable condition, was interviewed as well and told a detective that they’d been friends for about a year.
“They became friends and hung out after their shifts off him, the victim described the defendant… he would be easygoing, but other times he’d overreact,” Pizzorni said. “The victim stated that there was typically a cloud hanging over defendant and there was always a fear of what he might do and described the defendant as a bully.
“When the victim’s dad passed away in January 2025 there was a private viewing for family only, and the defendant was upset that he was not invited,” the detective said, adding that this led to a FaceTime call between the defendant and victim where Paljusevic allegedly threatened the 25-year-old.
Pizzorni and victim believe this altercation led to Thursday’s incident.
“We can be grateful the victim appears to be recovering from his injury, but no one should have to fear violence in the workplace,” said Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald in a statement. “This incident sent the hospital into a lockdown, put local schools on alert, and terrified an entire community. Multiple law enforcement agencies mobilized to quickly and safely apprehend the defendant. Even in a situation where, thankfully, there were no fatalities, the real and emotional cost of gun violence is immeasurable and unacceptable.”
