A Pontiac man accused of stabbing a woman multiple times because she had worn his clothing will undergo a competency evaluation, a judge has ordered.
At a hearing Tuesday in 50th District Court, Judge Ronda Gross agreed to refer Xavier Vaughn, 24 for the psychological/psychiatric testing — and set a June 26 review date for the results, court files show.

Vaughn, 24, faces a charge of assault with intent to murder for the alleged attack of a 25-year-old Pontiac woman on March 10.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the victim sought treatment for the stab wounds at an area hospital’s emergency department — and spoke to deputies there about the incident. She reportedly told deputies she had been stabbed during a fight over her wearing Vaughn’s clothes.
Based on further information from the woman and a witness who reportedly had driven the woman to the hospital, the sheriff’s office said, deputies went to a residence in the 100 block of Cherry Hill Drive in North Hills Farms housing complex to confront Vaughn. He eventually surrendered to deputies, the sheriff’s office said.
Vaughn is held in the Oakland County Jail with bond set at $100,000 cash. If convicted of the charge, he could be sentenced to up to life in prison.
