A Detroit woman charged with a misdemeanor for reportedly slamming a little girl’s head into a glass display case at the Somerset Collection in Troy has pleaded guilty.
Reanna Valentine, 25, entered her plea Tuesday before 52-4 District Judge Maureen McGinnis for assault and battery. The crime happened on Jan. 12 near a food court in the mall.
According to Troy police, surveillance video showed Valentine “forcefully” grabbing onto the 10-year-old girl’s head and slamming it into the display case. The child was with her father and friends, and she had walked in front of Valentine just before she was assaulted, police said.
The child reportedly told police the assailant — later identified as Valentine — laughed and smiled at her after the attack. Valentine was arrested the next day when she returned to the mall, police said.
Valentine is scheduled to be sentenced by McGinnis on March 26.
