A Pontiac felon has been charged with second-degree murder in last week’s fatal shooting of a man outside a Pontiac motorcycle club.

Malcolm Robert Boykin, 55, was arraigned Saturday in 50th District Court and denied bond in connection with the death of Charlie Isacc Odneal, 42, of Pontiac. Odneal died at an area hospital after being shot outside the Night Riders Motorcycle Club on Raeburn and Sanford streets on March 5, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

An argument between the two men, who were acquaintances, led to the shooting, the sheriff’s office said. Boykin was arrested March 6 at a nearby motel.

Along with the second-degree murder charge, Boykin is charged with assault with intent to murder, felon in possession of a firearm carrying a concealed weapon and multiple counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

“Once again, an argument escalated into a senseless homicide,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard stated in a news release. “I appreciate the great work of our team to quickly identify the suspect and further, to locate and arrest him.”

Boykin’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 19 for a probable cause conference.
