Car burglars smash windows, steal steering wheels

Four people called police Wednesday morning after they went to their vehicles, found the driver’s windows smashed out and their steering wheels missing.

Police said each of the victims owned a Chevrolet Malibu.

The thefts were reported between 8:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.  in the 29000 block of Woodward Avenue, the 100 block of Tiffany Lane, the 4300 block of Tonawanda Avenue,  and the 100 block of Allenhurst.

Police said they were unable to find any witnesses or surveillance video near any of the theft locations. However, they did get a swab of some DNA material from one of the vehicles and are investigating further.
