A man was shot dead and two others injured by gunfire early Wednesday in Pontac, and the shooter or shooters are still at-large.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened at the North Hills Farms apartment complex, where deputies were dispatched to just before 12:30 a.m. Three were hit by gunfire: a 24-year-old man from Pontiac who deputies found unresponsive with what appeared to be a bullet wound to the head — pronounced dead at the scene — and two other Pontiac men in their 20s who had injuries to their legs which weren’t believed to be life-threatening. They were treated at a local hospital and released, the sheriff’s office said.
Witnesses reportedly told investigators that before the shooting people had been partying in the apartment complex’s parking lot and an argument broke out.
The sheriff’s office is seeking the public’s help in identifying whoever is responsible for the shooting. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for a tip that leads to an arrest. Tips can be left anonymously at 1-800-SPEAKUP.
“We are looking for assistance in locating the individual(s) that committed this cowardly and despicable violent act by shooting into a crowd,” Sheriff Mike Bouchard stated in a news release. “The only way we can stop senseless violence is when people speak up. You can be anonymous, and a reward is possible.”
