A Wayne County judge has ordered a competency evaluation for a Southfield woman accused of killing her friend’s young child last month.

Iesha Harris, 30, faces charges of felony murder and first-degree child abuse in connection with the 3-year-old girl’s death. It’s alleged she fatally assaulted the child while babysitting her at a home in the 15700 block of Southfield in Detroit. The child was privately transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead on March 17, officials said.

According to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, the child died from blunt force trauma, believed to have been caused by Harris.

Harris is scheduled for a competency evaluation hearing on July 11 before 36th District Judge Kenneth King.
