A Saginaw man was killed in Oakland County on Thursday after the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a car that pulled in front of him, officials said.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as Gary Michael Kingins, 57.
The crash happened at around 4:30 p.m. on Sleeth Road at Marcello Drive in Commerce Township, when a 60-year-old Farmington Hills woman driving a 2024 Ford Edge made a left turn from Sleeth onto Marcello and hit Kingins, the sheriff’s office said.
Kingins had been riding a 2017 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 and was not wearing a helmet, the sheriff’s office said.
Paramedics from the Commerce Township Fire Department transported Kingins to an area hospital where he died from his injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver of the car, who had been wearing a seatbelt, was treated at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, the sheriff’s office said.
The incident is under investigation by the sheriff’s crash reconstruction unit.
