The man accused of gunning down Oakland County jeweler Daniel Hutchison in 2022 took the stand Tuesday in Oakland County Circuit Court as the trial’s final witness, denying he killed Hutchinson and denying he shot at Hutchinson’s wife, Marisa.
It’s alleged Roy Larry, 46, agreed to carry out a murder-for-hire scheme concocted by Hutchison’s attorney, Marco Bisbikis, 39, who stood to gain financially if the Hutchinsons were dead. The trial for the two men got underway last week. Both are charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and other crimes in connection with the June 1, 2022 shooting in Oak Park that left Hutchinson dead. Marisa Hutchinson was not hit by the gunfire.
Another co-defendant, Roy Larry’s cousin Darnell Larry, testified for several hours on Monday, giving a detailed account about drawing Roy Larry into the murder plan after getting himself in over his head and wanting out. Darnell Larry testified that Roy Larry agreed to do the shootings in exchange for his 2014 Camaro.
Darnell Larry made a deal with prosecutors to provide truthful testimony; in exchange, most charges against him are expected to be dismissed.
The prosecution rested its case shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday. Roy Larry opted to testify in his own defense, telling the jury he didn’t kill or shoot Daniel Hutchinson and didn’t try to kill or shoot Marisa Hutchinson.
“I didn’t kill nobody. I didn’t wait 46 years to kill,” he said.
Surveillance video shows a man on an electric bike ride up to the Hutchinsons while they sat in their Yukon Denali outside a pawn shop building they had recently purchased on Greenfield Road in Oak Park. He fired more than a dozen shots, killing Daniel Hutchinson, then rode away. An employee of the Hutchinsons reportedly drove after him in his vehicle, and it’s believed he hit the shooter with his car.
Police arrested Roy Larry a short time later. He had a severe injury to his lower leg, according to police testimony heard earlier in the trial.

In his testimony, Roy Larry said he ended up in the area of Greenfield and Nine Mile roads — near the murder scene — after his cousin, Darnell Larry dropped him off that day so he could buy drugs and meet up with an escort. He said “a white guy” drove up to him as he was standing on the sidewalk scratching off a lottery ticket, “said something to him,” took a swing at him and then pulled out a gun. Roy Larry said he took off running and the man got back in his car and struck him with it.
Roy Larry further denied ever being on an electric bike, and denied the person seen in surveillance video and photographs is him. He also claims the police got it wrong in their report following his arrest.
Roy Larry said he’s a long-time drug dealer who did time in prison for various crimes. But, he said, it’s his cousin Darnell Larry who’s the liar — not him.
“He’s not a credible person,” Roy Larry said. “He’s a liar, a poser.”

Judge Nanci Grant halted the trial for the day at around 4:30 p.m. Roy Larry’s testimony is expected to continue Wednesday morning.
Bisbikis chose not to testify. His attorney, James Thomas, called just one witness — Sarah Wyatt, a paralegal who worked at Bisbikis’ law firm until December 2022.
A total of 22 witnesses testified for the prosecution.
The Hutchinsons were known for their store, Hutch’s Jewelry, on Greenfield Road in Oak Park, which catered to entertainers, sports stars and others.
