A Farmington Hills woman has admitted to killing her infant in a motel room in 2021.

Amanda Jajou, 33, recently pleaded no contest to second degree homicide and accessory after the fact for the death of Isaias Daniel Porras, and prosecutors dismissed two child abuse charges. The child, 15 months old when he was murdered, was found dead by police conducting a welfare check at the Motel 6 on Grand River Avenue near Haggerty Road in Farmington Hills. Isaias had been staying at the motel with Jajou and his father, Isaiah Porras — who was also charged for the slaying.

Autopsy results show the baby died from brain damage caused by blunt force injury to the head.

A court-ordered psychiatric evaluation determined Isaias Porras, 34, is incompetent for trial but “restorable.” As indicated in his court file, there is a “substantial probability” that he could attain competency with mental health treatment, which he is receiving inpatient at the state’s Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Saline. Porras is scheduled for a status conference in Oakland County Circuit Court on June 20.

Court records also show a notice of insanity defense was filed for Jajou in April which the prosecution planned to rebut. Weeks later, Jajou pleaded no contest to the two charges.

According to a child abuse pediatrician who testified at Jajou’s and Porras’ preliminary exam, their baby was struck at least 10 to 20 times and suffered severe head trauma as well as significant bruising to his chest.

As testified to by Farmington Hills Police Detective Robert Gerak, Porras told him the child was a distraction, described him as a “demon” and said he and Jajou took turns slapping him. The beatings had reportedly been ongoing for weeks.

Jajou is scheduled for sentencing on July 11 by Oakland County Circuit Judge Jeffery Matis. A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing purposes. It can also offer some protection against civil liability.
