An argument at a middle school graduation ceremony Tuesday morning in Southfield turned physically violent when one woman assaulted another with “an object,” causing minor wounds and leading to an arrest, officials said.
The ceremony was held at Triumph Church on J.L. Hudson Drive for graduates of Southfield’s Glenn Levey Middle School.
According to the Southfield Police Department, officers were called to the church at around 11 a.m. on a report of a possible stabbing. The alleged assailant, a 41-year-old Eastpointe woman and mother of one of the graduates, was taken into custody and transported to the Southfield Detention Center without further incident. The victim is the current girlfriend of the graduate’s father, police said.
No word yet on possible charges.
