A 36-year-old Pontiac man is awaiting arraignment on a charge of assault with intent to murder.

He was arrested Wednesday evening after allegedly shooting a 35-year-old Pontiac man in the hand, according to Oakland County Sheriff’s officials.

The shooting happened at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, on the 800 block of Emerson Street in the Perry Park subdivision, near the former Emerson Elementary School.

The victim was treated at an area hospital. He and witnesses told police the suspect fled the area in a gray Chevrolet Traverse.

Deputies with Pontiac’s directed-patrol unit found the suspect’s vehicle traveling on Walton Boulevard and took the driver, the vehicle’s only occupant, into custody without incident. Police records show he was found wearing an empty holster and investigators found a single spent shell casing inside the vehicle.
