One of two men connected to the murder of jewelry store owner Daniel Hutchinson who made plea deals with prosecutors in exchange for trial testimony has been sentenced.
At a July 3 hearing in Oakland County Circuit Court, Judge Nanci Grant ordered Darnell Larry to 6 years – 80 months in prison for solicitation of murder for Hutchinson’s death on June 1, 2022. Larry testified for the prosecution during the May trial of his cousin, Roy Larry — who fatally shot Hutchinson — and Hutchinson’s former attorney Marco Bisbikis, who prosecutors said concocted a murder-for-hire scheme after creating a trust and will for Hutchinson and his wife in which he stood to benefit financially when they died. Roy Larry and Bisbikis, convicted of first-degree homicide and other crimes, are serving sentences of life in prison.

Hutchinson of Pleasant Ridge died at age 47.
During the trial, Darnell Larry testified about getting caught up in Bisbikis’ plan to kill Hutchinson — owner of Hutch’s Jewelry in Oak Park — and then drawing Roy Larry into the scheme. A felon who served time in prison for second-degree murder, Darnell Larry testified about Bisbikis giving him a job several years ago when he was a homeless squatter in Detroit, and then later working on Bisbikis’ illegal marijuana farm in Jackson County.
Due to his testimony, prosecutors dismissed charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy to murder, assault with intent to murder Hutchinson’s wife, Marisa, and two counts of felony firearms for Darnell Larry. He pleaded guilty to the solicitation charge. At his sentencing, 675 days of jail credit was acknowledged.
The other man who made a similar plea deal in exchange for testimony, Angelo Raptoplous, is scheduled to be sentenced on July 10.
