A Chesterfield Township police officer was injured Monday morning after being hit by a vehicle occupied by a pair of fleeing suspects.

Around 11 a.m., three males entered the Walmart store on Marketplace Boulevard and stole over $1,000 worth of merchandise, according to police. Walmart loss prevention recognized at least one of the individuals, who has stolen from other area Walmart stores previously, and contacted police while the suspects were leaving the store.

Officers apprehended one of the three suspects. The other two suspects entered a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu bearing a Michigan registration of EVR4104. The passenger side of the vehicle possibly has minor damage, police said.
While fleeing the scene, the vehicle struck a Chesterfield Township police officer, who sustained minor injuries.
Anyone with information regarding the identification of the suspects is asked to contact Detective Katelin Walsh at 586-949-3657 or kwalsh@chesterfieldpolice.org.
