Three men were jailed last Saturday in connection with the theft of nearly $3,000 in merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods in Bloomfield Township, officials said.

The Bloomfield Township Police Department is reporting that officers were dispatched to the store located at 2105 S. Telegraph Rd. on Aug. 17 at approximately 3:30 p.m. for shoplifting in progress. Two black men reportedly stole several items of clothing, and witnesses flagged down officers to say the suspect fled southbound on Telegraph Road in a black Nissan with heavy front-end damage, police said.

The suspects were pulled over on Telegraph near Maple Road, three men in the car were identified, and 55 pieces of clothing totalling $2,755 were recovered from the vehicle, police said. The three were taken into custody for retail fraud and a report was forwarded to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

If and when any of them are arraigned, further information is expected to be released.
