The case against a Farmington Hills woman accused of having sexual contact with juvenile inmates at a Wayne County facility where she was employed has been advanced to Wayne County 3rd Judicial Court for possible trial.

Svetlana Kuryanova, 33, faces two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct for alleged incidents that happened this past spring at Wayne County’s Juvenile Detention Center in Hamtramck. If convicted, she faces up to 15 years in prison.

According to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, it’s alleged that Kuryanova assaulted two juveniles, ages 16 and 17, at around 7 p.m. on April 8 while working as a juvenile detention specialist.

Following Kuryanova’s arrest, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said “allegations in this case are among the most disturbing ones that I have seen.”

The alleged incidents were investigated by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

The case was bound over following a Sept. 3 preliminary exam in 31st District Court, where Judge Alexis Krot ruled there was probable cause to move it forward.

Kuryanova’s next court date is pending.
