Intoxicated woman with Taser, drugs arrested at 6 Salon

An intoxicated Detroit woman was arrested at a hair salon for possessing cocaine, heroin and a Taser after she showed up there Jan. 11.

Police said the woman, 33, walked into the salon at 306 W. Sixth Street and requested a haircut.

But employees told police she was acting as though she was under the influence of something and used the bathroom at the salon.

“They asked her to leave and she wouldn’t,” said Royal Oak police Lt. Richard Millard. “When we got there she lied to us about her name because she had warrants” out for her arrest.

The woman was wanted on a felony drug-related warrant from another city, police said.

Police said the woman was carrying drugs and a Taser. It is illegal to carry a Taser without a concealed dangerous weapon permit.

Millard said the woman created a scene in the salon before she was arrested and taken to the police station.

Royal Oak man pepper sprays Berkley man, 70

A man who lives in the 400 block of Hendrie Boulevard pepper sprayed a 70-year-old male friend of his mother, who showed up at the suspect’s house to give the woman a ride.

The mother is 80 years old, and the man who was assaulted with pepper spray lives in Berkley.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. Thursday.

Police said Friday they have no idea why the woman’s son, 60, sprayed his mother’s friend.

The suspect “thought the victim was a threat for no reason,” said Royal Oak police Lt. Richard Millard. “We believe there may be mental health issues involved.”

Police said the son ended up being charged with assault and battery following his arrest.

Woman suspects movers stole electronics

A woman moving into an apartment told police Monday she suspects one of the movers may have stolen about $2,700 worth of electronic items.

The woman, 56, was moving into an apartment in the 2100 block of Parmenter Boulevard.

She told police that the electronic items included an Apple tablet, a 55-inch TV, an XBox and a Nintendo Switch system.

The woman also claimed all the items were wrapped as Christmas presents.

She said the items disappeared during the move and that she had an argument with one of the movers and he could have been involved.

Police said they are still investigating the reported theft.

Teen steals woman’s wallet at Imagine Theatre

A woman’s wallet went missing from the arcade area of Imagine Theatre after a group of teens were in the area.

Security at the theater called police about the theft at 4 p.m. Jan. 14 after the woman alerted police.

The woman told police she left her wallet unattended.

Security personnel reviewed surveillance footage, which showed one of the teens grabbing the wallet.

One teen was arrested, police said.

However, police suspect someone else used one of the woman’s credit cards to make an online purchase.
