A 63-year-old Richmond man died Thursday after his vehicle crossed the centerline on an Orion Township road and struck an oncoming vehicle, officials said.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the Richmond man was driving a 2024 Kia Forte east on Dutton Road near Bald Mountain Road at around 5 p.m. when his car crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 25-year-old Orion Township man, traveling west.

The Kia then struck a 2018 GMC Yukon, driven by a 43-year-old Rochester man, the sheriff’s office said.

The Orion Township man was transported to an area hospital by Orion Township Fire Department paramedics where he’s in stable condition, the sheriff’s office said.

The Rochester man wasn’t injured, the sheriff’s office said.

The drivers were all wearing seatbelts, the sheriff’s office said, and alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor in the crash. The incident is under investigation by the sheriff’s Crash Reconstruction Unit.
