A Farmington Hills man responsible for a traffic crash that killed a motorcyclist from Lake Orion will serve no jail time for it, a judge has ruled.
At a hearing Thursday, 52-3 District Judge Nancy Carniak sentenced Adnan Ali Eltobji to 24 months probation for the May 1, 2024 collision that killed Jimmie Haggadone.
Eltobji, 55, pleaded no contest late last year to a misdemeanor charge of moving violation causing death. The crash happened on North Lapeer Road near Oakwood Road in Oxford Township, and caused Haggadone to be thrown from his motorcycle. Paramedics transported him to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Haggadone was 66.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation showed Eltobji failed to come to a complete stop at a flashing red traffic signal then turned right, into the path of Haggadone.
Haggadone’s wife, Lois, told The Oakland Press last year that it was her husband’s only motorcycle crash in the several decades he’d been riding.

Along with probation, Carniak imposed a $2,000 fine on Eltobji, and ordered him to pay $7,800 in restitution and other fees, totaling $9,267 altogether.
Last September, Lois Haggadone filed a civil case against Eltobji. The case is pending in Oakland County Circuit Court, records show.
