A former Farmington High School basketball coach has been convicted of sex crimes against two male students.
At the conclusion of a jury trial May 10 in Wayne County’s 3rd Circuit Court, Jerremy Thompkins, 43, was found guilty of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct for assaulting the two at his home in the 8500 block of Asbury Park Drive in Detroit.
Investigators determined the assaults happened from August 2023 to October 2023, leading to Thompkins arrest by Detroit police on Oct. 24, 2023. The victims were a then-15-year-old from Farmington Hills and a then-16-year-old from Oak Park.
Thompkins’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 24 before Judge Marian Saad Bazzi. He faces up to 15 years in prison for the second-degree CSC conviction and up to two years and a fine of $500 for the fourth-degree CSC conviction.
Thompkins was fired last October after the allegations were made and an internal investigation was launched. Head coach Derrick McDowell and the rest of McDowell’s staff were also fired.
