Arraignment has been held for a 26-year-old man charged with several crimes in connection with the fatal assault of an 80-year-old man in Southfield.
Stavon Corey Lindsay of Southfield is facing charges of homicide, assault and battery, malicious destruction of a building and malicious destruction of personal property for the attack that resulted in the June 10 death of Maurice Elmore.

According to Southfield police, Elmore was attacked on May 30 while walking near Telegraph and Franklin roads, shortly after 11:30 p.m. Elmore had been approached from behind and struck head, then after he fell to the ground he was punched and kicked. The assailant, who police say is Lindsay, stole Elmore’s cell phone and wallet.
Elmore died while hospitalized for his injuries. The Oakland County Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide due to blunt force trauma, police said.
Lindsay was arrested on June 12. Elmore’s cell phone and wallet were recovered, police said.
At his arraignment June 14, Lindsay was denied bond and he was remanded to the Oakland County Jail.
Lindsay is scheduled to return to court on June 26 for a probable cause conference before 46th District Judge Shelia Johnson.
