An Illinois teen will soon be heading to a Michigan prison for stabbing a 14-year-old Oakland County girl multiple times after she reportedly refused to have sex with him.
Julian Pinedo, 19, met the girl on a social media website and traveled from his home in Monmouth, Illinois to visit her on Jan. 25, 2023, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Monday in Oakland County Circuit Court, Judge Daniel O’Brien sentenced Pinedo to 17-40 years in the Michigan Department of Connections for the attack on the girl at her home in Springfield Township. Pinedo pleaded no contest last month to an assault with intent to murder charge.
Deputies responding to a 911 call from the girl’s parents found her with multiple stab wounds to her back and midsection, lying on the floor. The parents weren’t home at the time of the stabbing but rushed back after receiving a call from their daughter, who told them what had happened, the sheriff’s office said.
Pinedo was arrested in Waterford where he had fled after the stabbing and then called 911. The sheriff’s office said Pinedo told detectives he was angry with the girl because she wouldn’t have sex with him, so he attacked her with a knife. He also reportedly said he had purchased the 8-inch knife used in the attack at a White Lake store the day before,
Since his arrest, Pinedo has been held in the Oakland County Jail with bond set at $2 million. At sentencing, the judge gave him jail credit of 516 days.
