The family of a Macomb County woman who was critically injured over the weekend in a motorcycle crash in neighboring Oakland County has launched a fundraiser to help her pay for upcoming medical costs.
Faith Ann Womble, 21, of Romeo was riding her 2024 Honda CMX500 motorcycle on Rochester Road near Betts Road in Addison Township about 4:20 p.m. Saturday when the crash took place, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the preliminary investigation shows Womble traveling north on Rochester Road when she failed to negotiate a curve and crossed the double-yellow line. That’s when she collided with a 2019 Dodge Journey, driven by a 34-year-old resident of the village of Leonard.
Womble sustained serious injuries and was transported to Ascension Providence Hospital in Rochester Hills by the Addison Township Fire Department. She was then airlifted to Ascension St. John Hospital where she remains in critical condition.
The driver of the Dodge Journey was taken to Corewell Health Hospital where they were treated and released, the sheriff’s office said.
According to investigators, Womble was wearing her helmet and the driver of the Journey was wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash. Drugs or alcohol do not appeared to have been involved, investigators said.
Womble’s sister said in a GoFundMe request that both of Faith’s legs and arms were broke in several spots, along with her pelvis and hips.
“If you know Faith, you know she’s shy, but is an incredible woman with the kindest heart who would do anything for anyone,” her sister Victoria Womble wrote in the request.
