Authorities seized 266 pounds of cocaine from a semi-truck at the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron on Aug. 1, officials said.

The suspect, Juli Sabosan Sathiaseelan, 42, of Canada, has been arraigned in the 72nd District Court, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office. He was lodged at the St. Clair County Detention and Intervention Center with bond set at $3 million.

Additional charges may be requested as a result of the continuing investigation.

The suspect, evidence and semi-tractor and trailer were turned over to the St. Clair County Drug Task Force.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security Investigations discovered the cocaine around 4:30 p.m. Aug. 1. The investigation was assigned to the St. Clair County Drug Task Force and its law enforcement partners at HSI. The St. Clair County Drug Task Force is partnered with HIS, and a DTF officer is assigned to the Port Huron branch of HSI.

“Our partnerships with other law enforcement agencies from local to federal are absolutely essential in keeping drugs out of our community,” Sheriff Mat King said in a news release. “The Drug Task Force’s impact goes far beyond the confines of the Sheriff’s Office.”
