A Troy man is facing multiple felony charges for allegedly having child pornography.
Kyle Robert Breitinger, 37, was arraigned Sept. 26 on six counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, and was released after posting $5,000 — 10% of a $50,000 bond.
According to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, the case against Breitinger unfolded after Michigan State Police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. As stated in a news release, “It is alleged that the phone number associated with the files belongs to the defendant and contained numerous explicit and graphic photos and videos of underage children.”
Prosecutor Karen McDonald called such charges “deeply troubling.”
“My office takes these charges extremely seriously because we recognize the trauma and widespread ramifications associated with such charges,” she stated in the news release. “We will work hard to secure justice for the victims in this case and to protect other kids from similar offenses.”
Breitinger faces up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine up to $50,000 if convicted. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 8 for a probable cause conference before 52-4 District Judge Kirsten Hartig. A preliminary exam is scheduled for a week later for the judge to be presented with evidence and determine if advancing the case is warranted.
