The case against a Farmington Hills teenager accused of shooting a Pontiac man, leaving him paralyzed, has been advanced to Oakland County Circuit Court for possible trial.
At the conclusion of a preliminary exam Wednesday in 50th District Court, Judge Ronda Gross ruled there was probable cause to bind over the Karvyon Murphy case to the higher court.
Murphy, 19, faces multiple felony charges for the April 7 shooting at the North Hill Farms apartment complex in Pontiac. A woman was also injured.

Murphy allegedly fired several gunshots into an apartment on Fireside Lane, hitting a 20-year-old man in the neck. That man is now paralyzed, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. A 19-year-old woman was also inside the apartment and was shot in the arm, the sheriff’s office said.
The shooting stemmed from an altercation at the apartment days earlier, and investigators subsequently identified Murphy as the gunman, the sheriff’s office said. He was arrested on Seven Mile Road in Detroit on April 23 by the sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Team.
Murphy is charged with three counts of assault with intent to murder, discharging a weapon in or at a building causing serious impairment, discharging a weapon in or at a building causing injury, five counts of felony firearm, and domestic assault and battery. He’s held in the Oakland County Jail with bond set at $75,000 cash or surety.
Arraignment is pending in Oakland County Circuit Court.
